Doctor Martin Marty is scheduled to be the guest speaker at the 50th
Anniversary Alumni Reunion at Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis.
Marty left the LCMS in the early 70's and joined the AELC and then the
  ELCA.
Marty, Senior Editor of "The Christian Century," has strongly
endorsed abortion, acceptance of homosexuals in the church, evolution, women
  clergy, and Episcopal hierarchy.
Marty claims the physical body of Christ did not rise from the grave.
Rare is the liberal cause Marty has not endorsed. In a Playboy
interview, Marty agreed that there were situations where adultery may be
  acceptable.
Other noted (but orthodox) graduates of the class of 1952, who were not
asked to speak, are Doctor Louis Brighton, author and Professor of Exegetical
Theology, and Doctor Milton Rudnick, past President of Concordia Edmonton.
At his 40th Anniversary Alumni Reunion, Marty commented that, "The
Seminary I attended 40 years ago is now ashes."
Seminary President Doctor John Johnson endorsed Marty as the guest speaker
for the 50th Anniversary Reunion. This is how he chooses to honor the Seminary
  Class of 1952.
The St. Louis Seminary Faculty has publicly condemned Reverend Herman
Otten, editor of "Christian News" not the editor of the
  "Christian Century."
Otten is responsible for exposing the liberal professors at the St. Louis
Seminary, who were sympathetic with Marty. By telling the Synod about the
anti-scriptural teaching at the St. Louis Seminary, Otten precipitated the
infamous 1974 Seminex Walk-Out of 45 professors and 450 students.
There is nothing more hated than the truth. The St. Louis Seminary prefers
to hear from Marty than Otten.
As Luther says, "The world wants to be deceived." (LW2:354).
"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but
after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching
  ears;" (2 Timothy 4:3)
Seeing that Johnson is eager to hear Marty, perhaps he would also be eager
  to spend eternity with him.
