A little over 25 years ago, through the efforts of Marion R. Winkler and an
appeal in Christian News, a book which had long been available only in
German was translated into English. The Stephanite Emigration to America
was distributed widely and later went out of print.
This book has been quoted in numerous articles regarding Church Polity in
general and Voters' Assemblies in particular. It is hoped that this
availability online (the first we or the copyright holder is aware of) will
provide more information for discussion and education.
We wish to thank Mr. Marion R. Winkler and his son Bill for granting us
permission to reproduce this work on our website. As with the original printed
copy of the book, this online copy may not be sold, but only distributed
freely as indicated in the introductory letter by Mr. Winkler.
A copy of the book was scanned and saved as a Microsoft Word document. It
was then saved again, this time converted to Rich Text Format (RTF). As such,
it is still best viewed in MS Word (97 or above). We will consider reproducing the work as a regular Text File if we
receive enough requests. However, at this time it was judged best to use RTF
since most word processing programs recognize it. It preserves the initial
formatting of the original very well, with minor differences. The document (book) is rather large, 141
pages in all and just shy of 1600KB. We have also made it available as a
zipped file.
