2 resolutions adopted by the pastors at the Central IL District Church Workers Conference

WHEREAS, we pastors of the Central Illinois District of the Lutheran
Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS) have been following with great concern the
recent actions of Mr. Rodger Hebermehl, Executive Director of the
International Lutheran Laymen's League (LLL) against Dr. Wallace Schultz,
and

WHEREAS, we believe the leadership should have supported Dr. Schultz in
doing his duty as Second Vice President; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That in response to the actions against Dr. Schultz, we pastors
resolve to do the following:

1. To formally ask Mr. Hebermehl to meet with the Central Illinois District
(CID) Board of Directors to answer any questions or clarifications of fact
which we might have concerning the actions of the LLL against Dr. Schultz;

2. To send a formal letter of the LCMS Board of Directors, asking them to
investigate the matter regarding Dr. Schultz;

3. To energetically pray that a positive, fair and just solution be reached
with all the parties involved;

4. To encourage our congregations to look for opportunities to support the
years of dedicated work, service and outreach which Dr. Schultz has provided
to and amongst the lay individuals of our church body.

WHEREAS, Dr. Wallace Schultz had faithfully served as Lutheran Hour Speaker
for 25 years; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Schultz has demonstrated a bold commitment to "Bringing Christ
to the Nations and the Nations to the Church", through his work with the
Lutheran Hour Ministries, Good News, and various other mission endeavors;
and

WHEREAS, God has used Dr. Schultz's faithfulness and zeal for the Gospel to
open many doors for confessional missionary endeavors throughout the world;
and

WHEREAS, Dr. Schultz in his capacity as 2nd Vice President of the Lutheran
Church- Missouri Synod has faithfully served the Synod in exemplary fashion,
not shying away from, but prayerfully and conscientiously dealing with all
matters given into his responsibility; and

WHEREAS, Throughout this process Dr. Schultz has demonstrated his commitment
to the Hoy Scriptures, the Lutheran Confessions, and his pledged
responsibilities to the Synod which has elected him; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the pastors of the Central Illinois District of the
Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, meeting in out 2002 Fall District Pastoral
Conference give thanks to God for the exemplary manner in which Dr. Schultz
has handles the responsibilities of his office, faithfully in obedience to
Christ and His Word; and be it finally

RESOLVED, that we ask our District President, the Rev. David Bueltmann, to
write a letter expressing these thanks and seeking an opportune time for him
to speak with us, sharing with us the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the mission
endeavors of Good News and other activities in which Dr. Schultz may be
involved.
