---------------------------------------------------------
The following message is sent by the founder of
Lutheran Concerns
Association (LCA), Mr. Edwin Hinnefeld. The LCMS holds
their annual
meetings in Chicago the week after Easter. This organization was
active in
promoting Dr. Dean Wenthe as President of the LCMS at the 2001 LCMS
Convention.
--------------------------------------
Dear Lutheran Friends:
Our beloved Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod is going through a severe
crisis. Our Synod is divided. It is important that members of
all congregations clearly know and understand the Truth.
There are hundreds of Pastors and Congregations supportive of actions not in
keeping with our Lutheran traditions, Lutheran doctrine, and in fact in
violation of God's Word. This is what is happening:
Conservative and Confessional Pastors are under attack and not being
defended by Synod.
There appears to be a growing effort to shut down Concordia Theological
Seminary in Fort Wayne.
There is strong support for placing women in pastoral leadership roles,
including the ordination of women which is in absolute violation of the
Scriptures. This support is found with a few on Synod's Board of
Directors.
Support for fellowship with non-Christians.
Tolerance for a charismatic movement
Replacement of synodically approved hymns and liturgy with those doctrinally
flawed.
Closed Communion being violated and even eliminated.
And a strong indication that the organized liberal groups would like to
seize control of over a billion dollars in assets of the LCEF and LCMS
Foundation.
What makes this crisis condition even more critical is that the LCMS
President is largely supportive of this liberal group agenda. It is
also reported that the majority of District Presidents are in accord with
the President and this destructive agenda.
Members of Daystar, Jesus First, RIM, Different/Voices/Shared Vision and/or
the Pastoral Leadership Institute (PLI) work closely with hundreds of
employees in the District and Synodical offices to change the LCMS and to
discard essential aspects of what we believe and who we are.
Recently representatives of several dedicated conservative groups met,
including Lutheran Concerns Association, Consensus, Balance, CAT 41, United
confessional and conservative representatives. All are committed to
join forces in whatever is necessary to preserve our synod, its tradition
and doctrine. This includes an absolute united effort to place
conservative confessional men aware of and supportive of the solid doctrinal
confessions of the historic LCMS in high offices at the next convention.
We need your financial support as soon as possible. Those following
the liberal agenda are well funded and already pursuing many avenues to
change our beloved LCMS. Indeed this is a very, very serious and
critical period. Please send you financial support to:
Lutheran Concerns Association
1320 Hartford Ave.
St. Paul, Minnesota 55116-1623
These funds along with funds from other groups will be jointly deposited and
all expenses controlled by a team of committed conservatives. We give
thanks for your support of $50 or $5,000. It will be a tax-deductible
contribution.
Let us be found faithful in our support to preserve the LCMS. Please
share this with friends. We also seek their comments and support.
Let us pray that all of our actions are pleasing to our gracious Lord.
Faithfully yours,
In His name
Edwin Hinnefeld
