At the LCMS New Jersey District Convention on
Friday, May 16, 2003
, the convention essayist was Dr. Robert Scuderi.
During his speech, LCMS President Dr. Jerry Kieschnick and his wife,
Terry, walked into the convention hall.
Scuderi interrupted his presentation and explained that his comments
were not going to help in his performance reviews since Dr. Kieschnick does
not do them. Among other
flattering remarks about the couple, Scuderi said of the Kieschnicks, “You
are the light of the world.” The
convention responded favorably.
The New Jersey District has 60 congregations and a
full-time District President. District
President William Klettke also explained that one third of the 60
congregations were, “At risk.”
Two congregations were added to District at the
convention, one Liberian and the other Kenyan.
